LUMAT Professional Development Workshops
Proudly brought to you by the Noel Baker Centre for School Mathematics

(and where do the 'less good' ones come from?)
Many good learning experiences come from interacting with mathematics in an authentic context. But not all contexts give rise to good learning experiences, and sometimes good contexts don't turn out as we would hope!
Thinking about the ways that context interacts with the quality of a learning experience is the theme of this workshop. Two or three really good learning experiences will be shared and worked, followed by a hopefully-rich discussion that will try to expose reasons for why it is that these learning experiences are good. The tasks shared will be drawn from year 8 – 12 and will involve Measurement, Algebra and Number.
