Casio took the best of the previous model, and mixed it with some great, new innovations. In particular, they added spreadsheets, eActivities and Natural Input Display. So please watch the movie at the bottom of the page to see some of them in action!

What is new in OS 1.05 ?

OS Version 1.05 has some useful upgraded features to improve the functionality and performance of your fx-9860GAU:

Ref and Rref functions:

Ref function: Returns the row echelon form of a matrix
Rref function: Returns the reduced row echelon form of a matrix

Converting 9850 programs into 9860 programs using the FA124

The FA124 program is capable of converting older programs from the 9850 into the 9860 (and vice versa). Below are the steps to follow.

Firstly, you must have FA124 downloaded and installed on your computer. If you do not have it, then you can get it from the Casio Worldwide website.
Open up the FA124 program.
Ensure you are in the 9850 mode of the FA124 program by clicking Tool » Model Type » fx-7400/CFX-9850 series.
Next you need to open your 9850 .cat file. Click File » Open and locate your .cat program. Select it by clicking on it and press Open.
If you have multiple programs in the one file, you can see them individually by double-clicking + Program.
Now go Tool » Convert » fx-9860 <=> CFX 9850 conversion and you will be prompted to enter a name for the new file. Enter in your file name (it can be the same as the 9850 file) and can only have a maximum of 8 chahracters. Click OK.
The conversion has taken place and you are taken back to the 9850 mode. Now enter the 9860 mode of the FA124 program. Click Tool » Model Type » fx-9860 and you will see two windows - fx-9860 and Computer.
Now click File » Open and locate your newly converted program. You will find it in the Casio folder in My Documents.
